The weekend started with a nice little present for Specialized!! Two pairs of brand new S-Works shoes :) One MTB pair and the other a road pair!! I am a very happy girl, I love them! I raced in the MTB shoes at the Trophy on Sunday and they are sooooo comfy, im just worried about getting them dirty!! But don't panic, I will have the baby wipes at the ready after the race to clean them! hehe
Saturday afternoon we had a nice little suprise party for my nan's 80th. You should have seen her face when she opened the door, she was almost in tears. She was expecting to go out to a posh reasturant that evening with my mum, dad, aunt and uncle so when she saw a load of ugly mugs in the house she got a nice surprise or a nasty shock.
Sunday was the second round of the National Trophy Series in Ipswich. After my 2nd place at round 1 behind National Champ Helen Wyman I was really up for this race as I wanted that yellow jersey. Got to Chantry Park at 9am and pretty much got on the bikes straight away to have a good look around the course. I was loving the course, it was a dead hard circuit.
11.31am race time!! For once I got gridded first so that was nice. I had a really slow start, dunno what happened, normally my starts are pretty good, so had a bit of ground to make up on the first lap. After 2laps a group of 4 were leading and about half way through I went for it and made my bid for the win. Was feeling pretty good and opened up abit of a gap, then I just went pop! Going through the finish with a lap to go 2 riders came up to me, but over the hurdles I managed to gain a few bike lengths again but couldn't hold it. Half a lap to go Ruby went and I just couldn't go with her. So finished in 3rd. Pretty disapointed not to get the win but I did manage to get the yellow jersey and take the overall lead so it wasnt all bad. Roll on R3 at Mallory Park where I am determined to get that win and keep the jersey.
James rode the Senior race and did an alrite job with coming 35th, especially as he was running up and down the hill like a mad man cheering me on during my race. Determinded to improve on that position at R3 and I'm sure he will.
The journey home was a bit epic. Awww, our poor van broke down and we had to get towed back by the AA. So we had a bit of time waiting around for the tow truck, sitting in a tesco car park, then burger king ( I must add I didnt have a burger tho :) )But thanks to the tow trucker for getting us home :)
