South East and Eastern Regional Champs

Yesterday I won the regional cross champs at Hog Hill, with Delia Beddis 2nd and Leona Kadir 3rd so pretty happy with that.

Had a look at the course quite early so there was time to clean my bike coz as usual Hog Hill was mega muddy (not that im conplaining). Legs wernt feeling great during the lap, felt dead heavy as did they on rollers. But as soon as I started racing they felt good. Had a really good start, lead up the hill and didnt really look back. Only one little issue with the chain coming off on the second lap, but managed to get it back on quickly which was good. The course was good, I enjoyed it, really muddy and I was sliding everywhere but for once I managed to stay on my bike, every other race at hog hill I must have fallen off 4 times so it made a change to stay on the bike. But think I need to work on my finish!!!

Looks like I am back on track after a few weeks of struggling.

Rode my new wheels my school brought me for the first time and they were amazing :)

Next up:- Bradford National Trophy on Sunday. Looking for a good result there as I am only 5points down on the lead with 2 rounds to go!

Thanks to Steev Davidson for the photos.

R4

Was in Southampton this weekend for R4 of the national series and I must say it went better than R3.  Im getting back up to where I should be, not quite there yet but defo almost back on it. Managed to pick up 3rd yesterday which was alrite. Had a pretty good start, but then dropped to 3rd, had a really good last lap and was gaining on 2nd but didnt quite manage it. Have dropped to 3rd in the series but thats ok as I am now only 5points down on the leader and 1 point behind 2nd. So it is all to play for in the last two rounds.

Pitted for James during the senior race, he had a good ride!! But I felt abit unwanted as he didnt need the spare bike lol

Have south east champs this weekend which should be a good race. But for now its back to the coursework, have two bits left now !!

R3

Hmm, yet again a dissapointing race. Went into the race with a 6 point lead and came away trailing by 9 points. Dont no what happened, just felt rubbish, felt like I had nothing! Hey Ho there are still 3 rounds to go. Having a few days off now tho and plan to come back fighting at R4 in Southampton!!

On the plus side, look at these orange glasses I have been given by Specialized :) Now I am a happy girl!!!

(Alec will be jealous)

Weekend Antics

The weekend started with a nice little present for Specialized!! Two pairs of brand new S-Works shoes :) One MTB pair and the other a road pair!! I am a very happy girl, I love them! I raced in the MTB shoes at the Trophy on Sunday and they are sooooo comfy, im just worried about getting them dirty!! But don't panic, I will have the baby wipes at the ready after the race to clean them! hehe

Saturday afternoon we had a nice little suprise party for my nan's 80th. You should have seen her face when she opened the door, she was almost in tears. She was expecting to go out to a posh reasturant that evening with my mum, dad, aunt and uncle so when she saw a load of ugly mugs in the house she got a nice surprise or a nasty shock.

Sunday was the second round of the National Trophy Series in Ipswich. After my 2nd place at round 1 behind National Champ Helen Wyman I was really up for this race as I wanted that yellow jersey. Got to Chantry Park at 9am and pretty much got on the bikes straight away to have a good look around the course. I was loving the course, it was a dead hard circuit.

11.31am race time!! For once I got gridded first so that was nice. I had a really slow start, dunno what happened, normally my starts are pretty good, so had a bit of ground to make up on the first lap. After 2laps a group of 4 were leading and about half way through I went for it and made my bid for the win. Was feeling pretty good and opened up abit of a gap, then I just went pop! Going through the finish with a lap to go 2 riders came up to me, but over the hurdles I managed to gain a few bike lengths again but couldn't hold it. Half a lap to go Ruby went and I just couldn't go with her. So finished in 3rd. Pretty disapointed not to get the win but I did manage to get the yellow jersey and take the overall lead so it wasnt all bad. Roll on R3 at Mallory Park where I am determined to get that win and keep the jersey.

James rode the Senior race and did an alrite job with coming 35th, especially as he was running up and down the hill like a mad man cheering me on during my race. Determinded to improve on that position at R3 and I'm sure he will.

The journey home was a bit epic. Awww, our poor van broke down and we had to get towed back by the AA. So we had a bit of time waiting around for the tow truck, sitting in a tesco car park, then burger king ( I must add I didnt have a burger tho :) )But thanks to the tow trucker for getting us home :)

Tennis a No Go!

Now I’m a cyclist, I ride well because I have good balance… it seems to work. What I discovered today is something else; I should never do sports with hand eye co-ordination. I am rubbish! A simple game at uni to test this, a target with three circles, the inner 5points, the middle 3points and the outer 1point. Within a minute, throw and catch, at the target, how many points can you get from a short distance away…. 9 points, that’s how many! My uni partner, well he got 98 points. I don’t think I’ll be taking up tennis any time soon. I think I’ll just stick to pedalling.
